Visit a Museum
Science aficionados will be excited to explore the newly opened Phillip and Patricia Frost Science Museum in Downtown Miami’s Museum Park. Overlooking beautiful Biscayne Bay, this 250,000-square-foot museum is home to six floors of interactive exhibitions, a lunar terrace with a telescope, a solar terrace with an urban farm, a freestanding planetarium and a 500,000-gallon aquarium.
Take the little ones to Miami Children’s Museum on Watson Island for a schedule of daily programming and entertainment for the whole family, including interactive and bilingual exhibit galleries.
Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM), in Downtown Miami is as beautiful as it is informative. Home to sprawling collections of 20th- and 21st-century art, this 200,000-square-foot museum hosts weekly jazz and wine nights and features a popular waterfront restaurant.
The Lowe Art Museum at the University of Miami includes classic collections, from permanent Italian Renaissance and Baroque exhibits, to those reflecting the Greco-Roman Antiquities and Native American art. Browse works by modern artists like Dale Chihuly, Richard Jolley and William Carlson.
Founded in 1963, The Bass Museum of Art, on Miami Beach, is home to the personal contemporary art collection of art collectors John and Johanna Bass. After a long-awaited transformation, it reopens to the public on October 8, 2017. A new gallery will be dedicated to displays of the museum’s permanent collection, featuring a series of rotating artist projects.
History buffs will love HistoryMiami with its exhibitions, collections and publications that tell the story of Miami and the greater South Florida area. As a Smithsonian affiliate, it is currently the largest history museum in the State of Florida and is located Downtown.
